October lifeGroup

Our meeting will be right after church on Sunday, October 7th. We will meet at Rick and Johna's home. Watch the blog for Johna to post the menu (and we need directions to your house!) and please respond, letting us know if you can come and what you can bring. It seems like it's been forever since we have been able to get together and I miss that time!

PLEASE let me or Newt know ASAP if you can attend so the church can buy parking passes for all those coming!

Thursday evening services have been AMAZING! You are missing out on some incredible blessing if you haven't been there!

June (can you believe it!) lifeGroup this Sunday!

This Sunday is our lifeGroup meeting!  We will be joining Jaspers group at their home in Svensen starting at 4pm. The menu is taco's and just contact Christa to see what you can bring... that goes for everyone EXCEPT you Miss Khayla! Since it is getting close :)  you don't need to bring anything except your wonderful self ( and of course your family!) Can't wait for the fellowship!

lifeGroup this Sunday!

Can not believe it is already May! lifeGroup meets this Sunday at Khayla and Adams home right after church! (Note new time!) They live out by the fairgrounds, so give them a call if you need directions.  They will be BBQing hamburgers and will also provide the cheese and buns, so all the other extra's are up to us people! Newt and I will bring plates, cups, silverware, drinks and condiments and a special birthday cake for an un-named old man who has a birthday on Sunday!

Please pray for Newt this week; he had to go to Olympia early this morning cause his dad is in the hospital. He has heart problems and they drained alot of fluid off his lungs. Most important, pray for his salvation and that his heart will be softened to hear and receive God's love and Newt will get an opportunity to talk to him.

Easter is Coming!

Our small group was joined by Jasper's even smaller group and it added up to a good time! Food, discussion of Pastor's message, and prayer time followed.

Pray that God continues to work through Pastor's message on Sunday for those that heard it.
Pray for healing for all the hurting people.
Pray for Easter! The message, the music and all the people that will fill the Liberty.
Praise God that Johna was able to get to her mom as she asked; and pray that her time with her mom is filled with love and comfort.
Pray for the lady Lynette is ministering to; that God would continue to break down strongholds of the enemy and He would give Lynette wisdom.
Pray for a house in Astoria for Kim and Nate.
Pray for James and Janae to get the house they are looking at!
Pray for those touched by cancer; Akiko Miller and Roxy Nelson and others.

Be sure to check out Pastor's and the other group blogs; they have prayers listed too!

No Foolin...

Can't believe that this Sunday is lifeGroup meeting! Seems like we just finished our pie at the Logger from last month! :)

So, Sunday afternoon, Langston home, 4:00. Let's keep it simple and bring whatever finger food is easy for you. We will have plates, cups, silverware, and pop and smoked salmon.

If anyone else would like to host next month, we can talk about that!

Will talk about Pastor's message this Sunday: I will be especially excited to hear about it as I have to work.

Prayer requests:
This Sundays message is about suicide. PLEASE pray for Pastor and the message and that God would bring those hurting people that need to hear this to our church. Pray for open hearts and ears for the message for all those there.

Lynette asks for prayer for a woman that God has placed in her life with a story similar to hers. She is gonna be meeting with her; lets lift both Lynette and this woman to God, asking for wisdom, healing, and a strong bond to form between them. Lynette is gonna let us know when they are meeting so we can pray hedges of protection around them!

Can't wait to see you all Sunday!

Quick Update

Soooooooooooooo..... coffee on Sunday will be Cassie and Lynette! Thanks ladies!

And... the answer to the question of the day.... Easter service at the Liberty starts at 10:30, same as a regular Sunday service. This will be easy to remember.

March lifeGroup

This week is our service week: Thursday coffee, Rick and Johna; Sunday: Lynette has volunteered to help, I will need to get someone from another group to work with her. Also, if the coffee servers can do so, it is OK to re-open after services to encourage fellowship; clean-up would be done then. This is optional, so if you can't hang around, that is OK.

Prayer requests:
Pray for Easter service
Pray for the lost
Pray for all those needing to forgive others or themselves
Pray for Pastor
Pray for church finances
Pray for the worship team and music
Pray for unspoken requests
Pray for the coast guard family whose card we signed

Please remember how powerful our prayers are! Don't ever underestimate their power in spiritual warfare!

Next meeting: April 1 (no foolin!) at the Langston home again. Time and menu to follow.

lifeGroup on Sunday!

First of all, so we don't forget, Thursday night is set aside to paint the children's ministry area! Bring your rollers and strong arms and get ready for a fun night. Also, ladies, if you are gonna be there, could you please bring some treats for the painters? Suggestions of anything chocolate were made last Sunday..... :) Newt is on call this whole week, so we won't be there that night.

Sunday is our meeting day! We will meet at our house again, at Big Creek Fish Hatchery; Newt gets off work at 4:30, so plan to come any time around 4-4:30. We figured potluck would be the easiest since we're getting a later start than normal (and he won't have time to fire up the BBQ!)
Just respond to this blog on what you can bring and if you can come. We will provide plates, cups, silverware, and crock pot meatballs.

We have lots to talk about on Sunday, but one thing we will mention now, is that the nursery is no longer the responsibility of the lifeGroups. Suzy will be taking that over again, so she is in charge of finding workers.

See you Sunday ( or Wednesday, for you Knappa people!)

Serving on Date Night

Please read and respond to this with a servants heart.... Our lifeGroup DID agree to host the Date Night Challenge and hosting means that we WILL provide and cover the child care, up to and including 5th grade. This means nursery 0-4, and probably two groups for the older kids; so we obviously need all of us (that have had background checks done) to serve. On a positive note, the program will be burned to DVD and will be shown at another time for those of us covering child care. So, we need everyone to respond to this blog or phone Newt and Carol ASAP and tell us where you can serve; we need the men to serve as ushers and greeters. Carol will be in the nursery and Newt will be greeting/usher. Thanks guys.

SUPER lifeGroup!

Wow! What a great time with a great group of people! We missed some of our regulars, but enjoyed visitors and new attenders. Welcome to Duane and Carla who want to be part of our group! We had 15 adults and 9 kids! Thank God for beautiful weather and great fellowship!

This is our week to serve, so here's a reminder:
Thursday nursery: Leann and Janae; remember to be there by 6pm.
Thursday coffee: Michelle
Sunday nursery: Carla and Randi; be ready for the kids by 10.
Sunday coffee: Johna and Karin (hope I spelled your name right!)

We went over rules for the nursery; they will be posted in the nursery, but here's a rundown:
Nursery ages: Sunday 0-3 Thursday 0-4
Make sure everyone signs their kids in and out. Make sure cards are given out and returned.
Suzy's number for the monitor is 00 if needed. Make sure you know how to use the monitor.
Paper work: completely filled out with first/last names of servers/visitors. Report any
incident, no mater how minor it may seem. Report any parent complaints.
Turn completed forms in to Kathy B box downstairs.
Children are to be picked up only by those listed on information sheets.
All infants under a year old must be with at least one adult on the infant side. So we may need
3 servers if this situation arises; let your group leader know.
Per newLife policies: no food allowed in nursery except bottles or sippy cups with milk/juice.
Only the women serving that day are to be in the nursery
Pick up garbage/tidy up before leave; garbage goes in big can by the upstairs back door.
Tell Suzy or Teresa of any needed supplies.
Any questions/concerns contact Nursery/Sunday school coordinator, Miss Suzy J!

Remember this Sunday night at 6pm at the church is the Date Night Special! You won't want to miss this!

Prayer requests: Please pray for our grandson JR who will be having some neurological surgery on Wed morning. Pray for an easy procedure, quick healing and no infection. Pray for peace for JR and Cassie, Jena and Kenny. Khayla also asks for prayer concerning a family meeting on Tuesday. How can be pray for you? Please post requests.

Our next meeting will be March 4, again at our home in Big Creek (Newton has standby and can't leave) at 4:00. More to follow!

Just a reminder that our lifeGroup meets this Sunday, 4 pm at the Langston home at Big Creek Fish Hatchery. We will BBQ salmon, and so far Janae is bringing garlic bread, Khayla a pasta salad, and Carla desert. It will be a great time of fellowship, meeting new people from Knappa! and getting our serving week lined up. PLEASE respond to this blog or e-mail if you can or cannot come and what you can bring! East meets West is a coming...!!!

Just a reminder that tomorrow night is the combined Knappa/Astoria midweek service in Knappa! (See last weeks blog for directions) Please everyone come out to show your support for our family in the east! It's gonna be a fun time of fellowship, music, message, treats and more treats! Don't want to miss it! Nursery provided. (No Thursday night service in Astoria)

Sounds like I missed an awesome service last Sunday! Can't wait to listen to Pastors marriage message on-line, amazing people joined our church, and the sanctuary was filled with worship!

Our next lifeGroup will be at Langston's home in Knappa on Sunday Feb 5 at 4pm. We will be BBQing salmon, so bring things to go with that. Will need salads, garlic bread, deserts, drinks. Please respond with what you would like to bring and we will firm this up as we get closer to the date! Will have some new people join us, can't wait!

Any prayer requests out there? Please continue to pray for Johna as she continues to be with family in California. She should be coming home soon, pray for her safe return.

As we praise God for the growth He is providing in His church, pray for Him to provide resources to go with this growth; financial as well as faithful workers! And ask Him to continue to encourage, strengthen and keep rested our Pastor, leaders and servers.

Hope to see you all tomorrow! Carol

January lifeGroup

Had a great get together at the Rasmussen home! Thanks so much to Ralph and Randi for their hospitality and to-die-for lasagna!

This up coming week is our service week, but since so many of our members are greeters, we will need help from other lifeGroups!
Thursday coffee: Ralph (yep, that right guys we have the 1st male barrista!) and Lena
Nursery: Randi and Janae
Sunday coffee: HELP! Carol will be contacting other leaders for someone to fill in
Nursery: Randi and Janae (after she finishes greeting)
Please check out previous blog for review of the coffee rules!

On Thursday of our service week, Rick and Johna will be the "leaders" as Newt and Carol will be attending evening service in Knappa on Wed.

Reminder: nursery workers... be sure to get a background check done, forms at church from
Kathy B

Really important to periodically check the blog! This is how we communicate what's happening in the church and in our group. Also easy to check other group blogs and Pastors blog from our page.

Rick and Johna are responsible for filling the serving positions. If you can't fill your spot in the nursery or coffee, contact them immediately so they can find someone else. All other communication for our group needs to go to Newton and Carol.

We discussed changing the Sunday we meet. Our lifeGroup will meet on the Sunday before our week to serve. This way everyone knows their schedule for the upcoming week and it will be easier to remember signing up for serving! Also, we are then free to help other lifeGroups that may need help (babysitting for example) It just so happens that for us, this will remain the first Sunday of the month for the next few months. Upcoming dates:
Feb 5 Newton and Carols home - time and details to follow
March 4
April 1
We will be meeting in different homes; remember to invite friends, neighbors to join us!

Upcoming events:
Jan 21 Ownership class
Jan 22 Marriage Series begins
Feb 12 Date Night Challenge
Jan 25 Mid week service in Knappa

Prayer requests:
Ralph's mom and divorce situation so she can move on
James work to pick up and remain steady, home for him and Janae
Brad Mathews, Tim's co-worker to develop relationship with God
Adams log truck to hold together
Church finances, not just to maintain, but exceed needs
Johna, for safe travels and wisdom as she deals with a family issue
Tim and Teresa's house

Please remember to comment whenever you have a prayer request, or just want to share.

(Type in your comment, select profile, hit preview, put in wierd password, hit publish; that should work!)

Upcoming lifeGroup meeting

4 more days til our first meeting of the year! Just a reminder that it's at Rasmussen's home. Please comment on what you can bring for our italian dinner, and Ralph or Randi, please post directions to your home. We have LOTS to talk about as we get ready for the new year, and as Pastor said, we're moving forward! See you all then and have a great day!
